EL BRUJO
HUACA CAO, CENTRO CEREMONIAL MOCHE EN EL VALLE DE CHICAMA
HUACA CAO
First book of a series with studies on the archaeological site "El Brujo" with the participation of noted archaeologists Rgulo Franco and Csar Glvez, and specialists Jeffrey Quilter, Antonio Murga, Carmen Gamarra de la Cruz, Vctor Hugo Ros, Segundo Lozada, John Verano and Marco Aveggio. Their studies have been compiled by historian Elas Mujica in an edition that covers more than 5000 years of Moche history. With numerous color photos of ceramics, pottery, crafts, textiles and hieroglyphics. Once an important site used as a religious ceremonial site, æEl Brujo (the sorcerer) is a network of ruins and mounds dating back over 5,000 years. Situated in the Chicama Valley 60 kilometers from Trujillo, this archaeological gem remains remarkably unscathed by the grave robbers and tourists who destroyed many of the ruins closer to Trujillo. The complex, which is considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites on the north coast, served as a ceremonial center and meeting place for nearly 10 cultures, among them the Moche.
